Bitcoin Weekly Update – October 22

In this week’s Bitcoin update, we cover the key developments from October 15 to 22, including Bitcoin’s price movements, spot Bitcoin ETF inflows, corporate Bitcoin holdings, and Switzerland’s approval of a spot Bitcoin ETF for retail investors.

Bitcoin Trades Between $80,000 and $84,000

Bitcoin traded within the $80,000–$84,000 range during the week of October 15–22. Volatility eased following the sharper price movements seen in previous weeks, with Bitcoin showing a more stable trading pattern.

As of October 21, Bitcoin was trading at approximately $83,350. Trading volumes also remained limited, keeping Bitcoin within a relatively narrow price range throughout the week.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs Record Strong Inflows

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a strong daily inflow during the week, with $526.6 million in net inflows on October 19.

On the same day, BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF recorded $665.16 million in net inflows, marking its largest single-day inflow since October 2025. Despite outflows from some other funds, overall ETF flows remained positive, indicating continued institutional demand for Bitcoin.

Corporate Bitcoin Holdings Continue to Grow

Strategy purchased an additional 267 Bitcoin between October 12 and 18 for approximately $22.1 million. The company paid an average of $82,900 per Bitcoin, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 848,517 BTC.

Strive also continued to expand its Bitcoin holdings, purchasing 1,223 Bitcoin between October 14 and 16 for approximately $100 million. The acquisition brought the company’s total Bitcoin holdings to 36,818 BTC. The latest purchases by both companies indicate that corporate Bitcoin holdings continued to grow in October.

Switzerland Approves Spot Bitcoin ETF for Retail Investors

Switzerland’s financial regulator approved the first spot Bitcoin ETF designed for retail investors, providing direct exposure to Bitcoin. Unlike Bitcoin-based exchange-traded products previously available in Switzerland, the new product will operate under the regulatory framework for investment funds.

The regulator granted an exemption from existing diversification rules for the fund, taking into account Bitcoin’s trading history and high trading volumes. Additional requirements relating to custody, operational risks, and investor disclosures will also apply.
