Bitcoin Weekly Update – October 15

In this week’s Bitcoin update, we cover the key developments from October 8 to 15, including Bitcoin’s price movements, spot Bitcoin ETF outflows, corporate Bitcoin purchases, and digital asset inflows.

Bitcoin Falls Below $81,000

Bitcoin started the week around $83,000 on October 8 before facing increased selling pressure. The price fell below $82,000 on October 12 and continued to decline later in the week as U.S. inflation data brought interest rate expectations back into focus.

On October 15, declining risk appetite across global markets pushed Bitcoin below the $81,000 level.

Spot Bitcoin ETF Outflows Increase

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows become more prominent between October 8 and 15. Although there were days with limited net inflows during the week, larger outflows kept overall ETF flows under pressure.

Selling pressure increased again toward the end of the period, with approximately $260 million in net outflows recorded on October 14. Total net assets held by spot Bitcoin ETFs also declined during the week to around $105 billion. Following the strong inflows seen in previous weeks, ETF demand continued to weaken.

Corporate Bitcoin Purchases Continue

Strategy purchased an additional 250 Bitcoin for approximately $21.5 million, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 848,250 BTC. The company therefore continued to expand its Bitcoin holdings in October.

Strive purchased 3,311 Bitcoin between October 5 and 9 for approximately $280 million. The company made an additional purchase of 2,822 Bitcoin between October 12 and 13 for approximately $235 million, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to 35,595 BTC.

Digital Asset Inflows Reach $50 Billion Year to Date

JPMorgan analysts estimated that approximately $50 billion has flowed into digital assets since the beginning of 2026. According to the analysts, ETF flows improved particularly during the third quarter, while positioning in futures markets increased.

Institutional positioning in Bitcoin futures has increased over the past two months. Following more limited activity during the first half of the year, this increase indicated stronger institutional participation heading into the fourth quarter.
